I would suggest that you do not buy a helmet online due to the fact they all fit differently.. I've found that it's better to actually try them on to see what fits the best. Also, I'm kind of surprised that your head (brain) is only worth $100... meaning, a good helmet usually runs quite a bit more than that. .

I agree with the other comments that you need to try on helmets first to find one which fits you properly and is comfortable. If you can then buy it online cheaper, fine. I must have tried on 30 or more before I found one which was good for me. A proper fit is very important not only for comfort, but also for safety.
Currently I only have an open face. I would like a full face as well for this time of year and for trips involving Motorways (similar to your freeways and interstate). However, I havent so far found one which is compatible with wearing prescription glasses and comfortable for me.

When I rode sportbikes, I had a few different brand FF helmets, but I preferred the comfort and ventalation of my Shoei R900. Truth is, though, I've found the HJC CL-33 to be a great compromise on my Harley. It's 3/4 with a flip up shield, and can be had for less than $100. It fits me well, it doesn't get too hot or too cold, and I like having a face shield on the highway.
But, as other posters said - you need to try a helmet on before buying. It's totally worth the extra few dollars you will pay at the local dealer as opposed to the internet.

I prefer full face. My current helmet is a Shoei X11. I also have a DOT half helmet I wear in the middle of summer but I still prefer the full face. I'll usually wear it unless I am in a group then I'll wear the half helmet just so that we can communicate more easily.
