Default fact or fiction, weight in the tips of handlebars

Could some one that has done this, let me know it it helps cut down on vibration at all. I have my grips off and I'm about to install new ones, so this would be the time to do it, if it's not a waste of time...Thanks.

i want you to just throw an arm up in the air and fling it about. done? see how easy that was?

Now hold a 10 pound dumbell and try to do the same thing. Not so easy this time, eh?

more weight kills the vibration by making the bar harder to fling around.

Gary,

If you decide to do it, let me know if it works. I've been thinking about doing this for months.

There was improvement on pre-2004 Sportsters but with the engine rubber isolation mounting on the 2004+ models, loading the bars no longer has the significance in reducing vibration as it once did.

Sounds like it will help 'terp84Alum' with his 02 more then my 06. But if it even helps just a little on a 06, I would still like to do it, as long as my grips are off any way.
Has Any one with a 04 and up tried it?

Come on, Gary. Your grips are off. My understanding is that you get 3 rolls of pennies and tape 1.5 together along with a piece of picture wire so you can pull them out later if you want. Put some silicone on the rolls and slide them in and you're done. I didn't have time before crap weather and now my bike is in the shop with the heads off. I'll do it in a month or so.

I have a 99, and popped about 50 cents in each bar end and silicon'd it in place. Haven't ridden w/the new apes yet, but on long rides my hands would definitely get tingly after a bit. worst case...you're out 1 dollar in pennies!

Well damn, why had I not heard of this trick before?? I just put new grips on my bike last week. The vibration isn't bad, but my hands do get a bit numb on long trips. Geeze, I would have given it a try.

I put 75 cents or so in each side. It is much nicer now. But they are forever stuck in there. That little idea about the wire is a good one. Silicone is a good idea too.

It would be easy enuff to test, tie the penny rolls on the grips and see. Sounds like it would take 5 mins. I am against reducing the vibes, but I did find that my SE ign lessened the vibes in my bike...
