here is your part # for the seal ring,carburetor (27002-89)
and if it where me i would replace the intake ones too
here is that part # intake manifold seals (2) (26995-86B)
this is for the 06 model that SportyPig has

Do a search on stefan, he has the bike with detailed records up to 100,000 miles.

Thanks, I failed to mention I already have those parts too. Just gotta park the bike long enough to wrench on it.

Bikes will break down, components will need replaced, and the engine/transmission will eventually give out but all can be rebuilt. I worked on a 1939 EL (knuckle) at school yesterday: does that answer your question?

Wear the engine out and put a "Built" engine in it.

Exactly, when you think of all you spend in aftermarket parts, accessories, etc. A new engine, especially for a Sportster really isn't that much.
