Good point!You don't want gas fumes getting under the fresh paint.It'll just peel and flake right off.My aftermarket tank has two caps.I never use the left side.After my custom paintjob,I put one of those Landmark Paint Saver gas caps on the left side.Torqued it down good and haven't touched it since.
I tried to use one on the right side,but the design didn't allow me to see how much more gas I could pump.Had to keep pulling out the nozzle out.PITA!
I went with a low profile dome cap to match the left Paint Saver gas cap.I put a few layers of clear nail polish at the edge of the paint to seal it.No problems with the new paint!

Oh yeah! The new tins look killer!!
