Default Softail rims on sportster?

New here and new to riding. I've learned a lot searching this forum. Quick question - I have a 2003 Sportster, will softail rims fit? Not exactly sure what year the softail is (newer), but not sure if that matters. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

More specifics are needed. What year is your sportster and what year is the softail? Any idea about the bearings size on your sportster? Stock wheel size?

I have a 2003 Sportster. Stock bearings and stock wheels. The rims are fatboy wheels from a 2004 softail. Thanks for the help.

It will also depend on what model Softail, the size of the front tire dia. & width vary model.

I have a FatBoy rear rim on my 2000. I've also seen more than one FatBoy front ends on a Sporster so that must not be to hard to do either.

The wheels on a 2004 should be the same as those on my 2003 FatBoy....

Both wheels are 16 X 3.0 cast aluminum. Front tire size is MT90B-16 Dunlop tubeless, rear is 150/80B-16 Dunlop tubeless.

from what i have learned so far is , that width and axle size are the main factors involved with installing different rims.

axle size issue for the front is easily changed by changing the bearings to fit rim and axle both which means that you could put almost any rim that you want on front as long as brake rotor will match up.

as far as the rear goes , i havent looked into that because i have saddlebags that cover that so you don't really notice it much.

Thanks for all the responses. Really appreciate it. The rims are from my brother in law who said he'd give them to me with new tires. So I really have nothing to lose, but getting someone to put them on. I've since realized that by owning a bike you're inherently subject to a strong case of OCD. Thanks again.
