RevTech 80W-90 In Sportster?
Anyone have any experience (or opinions) about using RevTech Semi-Synthetic 80W-90 transmission lube in the Sportster primary/tranny?
Guy I know gave me 4 quarts of this, and I'd hate to see it go to waste. The bottle states, in part; "A multi-viscosity partial synthetic gear oil developed exclusively for use in the transmission of Harley Davidson Big Twin Motorcycles." I know that many run the Mobil 1 tranny lube in their Sportster's, but I haven't heard much about the RevTech fluid. I haven't used RevTech products in the past, but apparently it is made for, and distributed by Custom Chrome. http://dogsdoom.com/PI/revtech.jpg |

Im not sure but I think that at least my 97 sporty takes 15w-50w in the tranny. So I would think that 80w-90 would be to thick but Im not an expert by any means.

Unless this was blocked off, you had to run the same oil in both cavities. And in the Sporty you need something that will lube the chain, lube the tranny gears, and allow for proper clutch operation. Your manual will tell you what the lube oil requirements are, so it'd be a good thing to follow. |
