Can anybody tell me how loud 92 DB is?
Okay so the new AMA sound test device came out and the max for 2 cylinder motorcycles, which is all of us, is 92 decibels. So how loud is this? I am not looking for a scientific explanation, I already found that. What I need is somebody to tell me how loud most Harley's are. How loud are drag pipes for instance? I guess just some good real life examples are what I am looking for. I run Shacks with the baffles in and I am just curious as to about how loud they are.

90DB = lawnmower, shop tools, truck traffic; 8 hours per day is the maximum exposure (protects 90% of people).
90-95 = Level at which sustained exposure may result in hearing loss
100 = chainsaw, pneumatic drill, snowmobile; 2 hours per day is the maximum exposure without protection.
Hope This Helps.........

Your average bar on a weekend night and a live band will be running in the 95db range..
Drag pipes at full throttle would easily be in the 110db range.
I think an iPod goes to about 100db or 105db at full volume
A touring bike with stock mufflers at full throttle would probably be in the 80db neighborhood.
