I'm flat footed when sitting on my 07 883R, but did consider putting a set of lower shock on the rear, not for any sort of reach problem, just thought it might look a bit wilder, leave the forks the way they are. But then again that might take away from the retro flat track racer look for which the model was intended.

And with an aftermarket seat, you can even get these bikes to sit even lower. I replaced my stock seat with a custom low rider seat from CC Seats and man, my bike looks slammed now. CC claims they lower the bike over an inch and I believe it....

Interesting stuff - thanks.

As someone who is "less tall" than most.... OK.... fine.... I'll say it.... I'm short.... there... happy!?!? I wish they could have some way of including a seat width ( thickness ) measurement with the seat height measurement. I'm not sure how they could measure this.... Maybe they could use one of those fabric tape measures & measure from the ground near where your left heal would be, over the seat, down to where your right heal would be?

I have a relative who has a Softtail Deluxe ( very nice bike BTW ) & I have a XL883C - even though the seat height is a couple inches taller on my Sporty, they sit about the same for me due to the fact that the seat on the Deluxe is wider. Due to your posture / the width of the seat / seat height - sometimes a low seat height measurement doesn't exactly tell you the whole story. I'm thinking I'm overthinking this a bit... maybe I'll just go actually sit on the bike & see if my feet touch!

But we are talking about very small differences....

Here are a few of the "lean angles" from the Harley site...

883 Lean Angle - Left 32* Right 32*
1200R Lean Angle - Left 32* Right 32*
1200L Lean Angle - Left 30* Right 31*
1200C Lean Angle - Left 31* Right 29*

As you can see, the angles are not that different, especially when you consider that the 1200R is 5 or so inches "taller" than the other models.

I think the main goal of the 1200R was to provide a model with a higher riding and seating height.
