I had the mustang seat also, I liked the fact I could take off the passenger seat and expose the fender. Good seat once it was broken in.

Looks like I'll be looking into the Mustang seats and the Progressive shock setups. Any advice on where to buy the Progressive shocks?

Sorry for all the questions but this is all new to me...

I have the Mustang. I tried the LePera and then sold it. My opinion is that the better (cooler) the seat looks, the less comfortable it will be. You can't go wrong with a Mustang.

Do a google on Harley Davidson accesories, lots of sites come up, shop for the best deal.I have used J+P and Dennis Kirk for shocks, springs, seats, hiway pegs...The sites allow you to put the year and model in, and show you all the goodies you can get for your bike.Note, on the right side of this page is a list of places...Brett

I really like the look of the Badlander and found a pretty good deal on one locally but if I can't ride 60mi without squirming its out of the running. Is this the case? Any opinions are appreciated. BTW, I'm 6'1" 180lbs and the wife is 110lbs and the bike has drag bars and forward controls.

Thanks in advance.

Brett, did you go back to stock or find another alternative? I'm also 6' tall and am looking for a 2-up seat to replace the stock Low seat.

I bought my Mustang seat (among many other things) from Dennis Kirk. Nothing but good things to say about them.

Here is what I came up with so far:
The sundowner seat, modified, I stuffed more foam in the front, and screwed on rubber feet to the base, like the mustang seats have, big ones in the front, shorter ones in the middle, none in the back.

What that does is raise the seat up a bit, more in the front so I don't slide forward.

I have mid controls and I am 6 foot, so I want to sit higher from the pegs.
With forward controls, its likely different, and not as important.

The sundowner seat is big and thick which is nice, but its also wide, along with the gas tank, and with mid controls, on hiway rides, the seat and the wind tend to blow my knees apart. Sounds odd, but I eventualy get hip pain from forcing my knees against the tank.
So I bought some drag specialties adjustable (frame mount) hiway pegs, which might help a lot at high speeds.

I really got spoiled on the old Triumphs, they had long, flat, thick, narrower seats, plenty of padding, not locked into one position, narrow, and narrow bikes, great peg/seat/bar locations for 6 foot or bigger riders.

I may eventualy try and have a custom seat made, something like the old Triumph seats, but slightly less flat, a flat seat would look really odd on the Harley...

That sounds like a great way around the problems. I've got the stock mids on my Low and also have frame mounted highway pegs. Like you, I'm hoping to get a little more distance between me and the mids and not slide into the tank.
