I've only had mine for a week now, but it has totally changed the ride on my 883 Low. Little to no movement in the saddle when hitting large bumps in the road. I made the switch to add passenger seating for the wife, but it's made things much more comfortable for me too.

I'll give it an 8. Still some room for improvement but it's miles beyond the stock seat. I'm riding down to Mean City Cycles sometime in the next few weeks to have them modify my Sundowner a bit. Should be GTG after that.

Over a stock HD seat? A HD Sundowner seat is a +10. There are other really nice and comfortable aftermarket seats out there as well. Mustang and Saddleman to name just a few, and in no other order than alphabetically! That being said, I own two Sundowner seats that have not been modified. The Sundowner seat does NOT set you in the same riding position as the stock seat does. It is a little higher up and it seems to want to slid you forward into the gas tank. But it is more comfortable than the stock seat is over a long distance. Is it perfect? No. I think that with a little bit of modification it could be a better seat though. But that is just MY impression. Everyone has their own idea of what is comfortable for them. Some think that the stock HD seats are perfect just the way they are. I imagine even HD must not think so or they wouldn't produce a replacement touring seat option at all.

I can't ride Sundowner more than 40-50 miles, then my butt cannot take it any more. I don't like the riding position, either. I'm 6'2", I think this seat is no good for tall guys. Maybe if I had forward controls ... but I don't. I bought it for two-up riding, stock seat goes back every time I ride solo.
Stock - 10
Sundowner - 0

Default 2 Up On Sporty

IMHO - doesn't get much better

08 883L (has stock pullback bars), forwards with Sundowner

The wife loved it till we took a ride on a Road King. Bought the RK and ended up putting a Sundowner on that!

It is much better. But if I had a choice of changing the rear shocks or the seat to improve the ride, I would change the rear shocks to some take-off touring air shocks. It will improve the comfort of the ride more than a seat AND it is less expensive.

I have air shocks on mine and a sundowner that's been reworked with comfort foam. I'm good all day on it. Wife is good for about 6 hours before she starts wiggling around. lol
