I don't like those deals with the clutch lever on the shifter itself. There will never be an opportunity to have both hands on the bars when taking off. The foot clutch isn't bad once you get everything set up and then get used to it.
BUT, if you absolutely convince yourself that the shifter mounted clutch lever is the only way you'll be able to handle it then please please please shave down that lever's damn bar clamp. It looks ridiculous without the switch housing mated up next to it. |

He's talking about that huge lip on the stock clutch perch that normally mounts up next to the switch box on the bars. Without the switches next to the clamp the huge lip on the perch just looks out of place. As if it doesn't belong.

the set up from Licks is the LaBroila one. That's where I got mine, and you have to have stock forward controls to mount the clutch pedal. I believe they do make one for your year bike. And Mreed is right, the switch housing looks like ass with out the clutch mount on it. I am planning on getting rid of my switch housings.

I can't imagine anything more pointless , annoying and above all dangerous than having to constantly remove my hand from the bars for every gear change . Fitting this apparatus to a perfectly good modern motorcycle is quite possibly the sillyest modification ever . Imagine riding up a steep series of hairpin turns and suddenly having to steer one handed .

to each their own but i am still going to try it cant help it lol.i can multi task like a mofo anyway and it would actually slow me down some.nothing is permanent...i still have the oe clutch cable i can modify and make a stick shifter for a trial run.found out how easy it is after some more research.if i dont like it,i can immediately switch back.

Hi, I'm the guy from Post #8 on Page 1, over a decade later....
My bike is still set up the same way and years ago I took my then 11-year old son on a 6.600 mile / 4 week "Lap of America" trip with the jockey setup in place. No issues during the trip. Back in 2012 I added a 21" spool front wheel and moved the throttle to the left side of the handlebars so now everything (foot clutch / tank shift / throttle) is on the left. Anywho, it is still a blast to ride but I don't do it as much as I used to as the bike is stored on the Mainland (I moved to Hawaii years ago) so some "re-introductory" seat time is usually needed to get reacquainted before I venture out on the highway. One thing I found is that my bike tends to stay where I parked it last. Best of luck! |
