Default Pics: Chopped Fender 2.0

Well I took a half-day today and figured it was a good day to clean-up my project I started. I did some more cutting, grinding, and painting. Let me know what you guys think.

Only problem I have now is the fender bottoms out on the tire when I hit dips in the road or large bumps. I guess I'm gonna have to go to struts after all...oh darn more toys to buy...LOL.

Question for those running struts. I have 1.25" of clearance right now between the fender and the tire. Will this be enough for some 10" struts. I figure they will lower it 1" and give me 1/4" for tire swell when I'm running on the freeway. Anyone know if this is correct or if I'm too short on my clearance to go to 10" struts?

Thanks.

Simmy - Good job rounding off the frame rails. You did a nicer job than me. I was scared to death I'd hit the tire. LOL! I have an 06 Custom. I'm pretty sure your bike was lower than mine factory, though. I bought the 10" struts and it lowered MY bike exactly 2", but like I said, I think mine is taller OEM. Can't say for sure if you'd hit the tire. I think a lot of guys on here did what you did, so I think you're good. And if you find the guy I bought mine from on Ebay, he will cut them to any size you want. I paid like $30 for mine. Are you gonna go the expensive route and by from LICKS? Ask Bdragon158 or JoeBotics. I think they did exactly what you've done.

someone correct me if im wrong but i think 10" struts will lower you more than an inch. your stock shocks are 11" but they are not verticle they are angled some. so an inch shorter strut should lower it (im guessing) like 1.25 inches or so.

I've been thinking about taking it off, but I've got to take off my exhaust to get at the bottom bolt. That's the only thing that has delayed me removing it, might be a project for the colder months.

That's what I was thinking, so I might have to get a custom set made and have them slightly higher than 10"

You don't happen to know that ebay seller's name do you? I may need to get some custom made struts.

A lot nicer dude!
P.S. I asked a question in the other thread. Is the sub-frame one entire piece or at the bolts where the shocks are it goes into another piece?
