Hey Guys, Doc Here.

I'm not sure if any of you know (hopefully people do) about the Gunman that killed himself at The University of Texas at Austin this morning.
I attend UT and I was actually in that library where the shooting happened.

I wouldn't say I almost died, b/c the student didn't shoot anyone at all so I am thankfully I'm alive and other students weren't hurt but it was a pretty scary feeling.

I just wanted to come on here and say that i was thinking about all the threads I've read about how some of you guys have experienced like accidents on your bikes (like my friend Matt -TexasBikeBoy-) and praise you guys for having such strong minds and hearts and spirits to just keep living life and keep walking forward.

I'm not really sure how that ties into my experience today but i felt that i should post something b/c i haven't been on here in awhile and just thought of all you fellow riders out there.

1. Perhaps you will consider concealed carry in the future? I think of it as "extra health insurance"...and besides you live in Texas. Don't they give you a free gun when you go buy liquor?
2. Next time you're out riding, you'll appreciate it slightly more.

+1. Statistically speaking, it seems like after gas stations and banks, campuses are where you'll most likely need a firearm to protect yourself.

But that's a whole new subject and an entirely new can of worms...

I actually do have a concealed handgun license. But campus is not a place im allowed to carry. lol give me a gun when i by booze? thats funny.

I would agree with this also, I was in the library and got out as fast as possible. I knew one thing when that **** was going on, I was not going to be sitting under a desk like a bump on a log or a sitting duck!

Glad to hear your ok. I know what you mean about the feelings after a near death experience. I almost bit it on sunday. I am also in College in East Texas and was just discussing situational awareness, exit strategies and how the school doesnt offer self defense classes to the women on campus on monday. All of this of course is based on being a teacher and protecting the children in my classes.

I know what you mean but here's my take on that...concealed means concealed.

If **** does hit the fan, I'm a firm believer that it's always better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.
