I had my fork tubes off rebuilding them yesterday. I got everything back together and snugged in place, got out the torque wrench, set it to 34#'s ( specs are 30 - 35 ft #), tightened the first 2 pinch bolts fine but when I got to the third, the tree cracked where it wraps around the tube next to the pinch bolt.
When you do it the right way, using a torque wrench, this chit leaves you scratching your a$$.
As someone said in another forum section, it was probably from Twisty Fatigue.

Ain't that the truth... I just got back from the twisties last week.
What had me worried was that the annual HDForums - FL Crew Rally in Ocala is next week, and I could just see this tree being a long lead time item if it had to come from the MoCo. On top of that, my bike is a daily ride.
