Getting the front pully from an 883 Sportster will shorten your gearing slightly. If you want more than that I would suggest a chain conversion; that will open up the gearing options quite a bit.

now, to address the elephant in the room: You have the wrong bike. If you want to race and do high speed antics there are FAR better bikes out there for that. The Sportster is a lousy platform for wheelies and an EXPENSIVE platform for racing.

Will any year 883 front pulley fit? Or does an 05 only fit 04-10?

I've owned MANY race type bikes. I like my Harley. But I need it to get off the line a little better. Not going to our. Never ride more than a few hours at once. Mostly bar hop.

So will any 883 pulley fit?

Looks like you jumped the start or the sportbike was sleeping, good for you anyway it's good to see you out there.

A little of both. Managed to pull an 8.03 but the GSXR 750 had a Much higher MPH. But I got there first.

Now if I only knew which 883 front pulley to buy. Do you have any idea?

Not sure about this responce. Are you think that I did not run an 8.03?

Or do you feel that an 8.03 1/8th mile is slow for a sportser?

Red5 what mods have you done? 8.03 for an 1/8 is respectable.

it's funny that you say you drag race and get these good times yet don't know about changing sprockets

that is what I was getting at
something smells pretty ripe in this thread

Pulley part #:
The stock pulley off an '04 up 883, part # 40379-04, is 28 tooth. Stock 1200 is 29, # 40409-04. You can go up a tooth, too. The International pulley is 30T, # 40380-04, but that's not what you want. From '05 HD Sportster Parts Manual.

Something I copied from somewhere:
Remove the Transmission drive pulley cover on the right side of the bike. Loosen the rear axel nut and loosen both the left axel adjuster and the right axel adjuster and make sure that you turn them the same amount to help keep them lined up. With the extra slack in the drive belt that you created by loosening the axel nut and the axel adjusters, you can easily remove the old Transmission drive pulley and install the new Transmission drive pulley. With the Transmission drive pulley cover off, you can see the retaining nut that holds the Transmission drive pulley to the Transmission drive shaft. There are two Hex-headed bolts that hold a locking ring in place that must be removed first. After removing the two Hex-headed bolts and the locking ring, I put the Transmission in 1st gear and I used an impact wrench to help remove the retaining nut. Remember that this retaining nut has Left-handed threads, or counter-clockwise threads, meaning that they are the opposite of normal Right-handed threads and must be rotated clockwise, or to the Right to loosen this one nut. Once the retaining nut is off you can remove the old pulley by sliding it off of the Transmission drive shaft. Slide on the new pulley, install the retaining nut and TORQUE TO SPEC. (See Service Manual for spec. If you do not own a Service Manual please go buy or borrow one.) Place the locking ring on the retaining nut and tighten down the two Hex-headed bolts. Replace the Transmission drive pulley cover. Now tighten up the Left axel adjuster and the Right axel adjuster until the drive belt is correctly positioned, not too loose and not too tight. Tighten up the axel nut to the SPEC outlined in the Service Manual.

Red, the farther you can put the gear reduction from the engine, the easier it is on the drive train, a larger rear pulley would be better if you could get it. In other words a larger rear pulley makes it easier on the in between stuff.
