Today I took the Baffles out of my slip-ons on my Iron. I don't know what the material is that is wrapped around each baffle but it looks like its been burned because half of it missing. I can't tell if its just been pushed back to the end or if it actually has been melted. Is this normal? Oh and I have the x14ied.
The packing around my baffles was roasted too at ~5k miles. I think the condensation + high heat takes its toll on them. I think you can buy more of the fibergalss packing material from denniskirk.com or some of the other online cycle stores.
Any automotive store will have fiberglass, the stuff for body work will work fine. make sure to pull it tight when you wrap it, to help on installation... they are tightskees!
Oh I'll fix it. It's painfully loud without them. And eight bucks is nothin. I'll pick some up this weekend. Thanks buddy. I think I'm addicted to this forum. Lol

Any time, my friend. Just let me know if you need any more help. Places like Dennis Kirk are a great resource, but after shipping and the price hike due to them being "specific to something", it just is not worth it, when you can get the same thing for much less locally and not have to wait. The fiberglass closest to the factory is the "chop strand". Just give it a wrap and a half to two wraps around the baffles and stick her in. Good luck!
