Red face Rear Fender Chop Questions

Hey guys. I searched around but I have a couple of different questions that I hope can get answered by you guys. Bike is a 2010 Nightster.

First: What other Sportster rear fender will fit on a Nightster? I saw a couple of fenders for sale but never know if they will fit. I don't feel like cutting my stock fender.

Second: If I cut my fender struts will I still be able to put my stock fender back on and slap the old lady on there from time to time?

Third: Any suggestions or tips?

Thanks a lot for any help given.

I believe 2004 and up will interchange. If you cut the struts, it all depends on where you cut it. Leaving the two bolts on each side, then yes. As far as tips, lay down some tape, find the center location of the fender, draw the line to the middle, trace it to paper, then flip the paper and trace that line to the other side for consistency. Good luck!

his answers are spot on. I would suggest that you not cut off the whole strut unless you can weld well.

If you plan on dropping your fender also I would try finding a used Nightster fender. I chopped and dropped the fender on my 05 C and the radius does not match the tire very well. Where its about 3/4 inch at the closest, its about 1 1/2 away from tire at the outside. I think it still looks better than before but wish the radius was the same. I cut my strut short and strutted to my swing arm, I dont think ill put anyone on the back of mine, It would prob hold (with a light girl)but im not gonna chance it. Ill be posting pics of mine in the next couple weeks, when im completely done.

I am just recently hearing about the fender drop. What does this consist of? I was wondering why some fenders looked so close to the tire and some didn't. I would definitely look into doing that as I find it looks so much better when the fender is closer to the tire.

So any 2004 and up rear Sportster fender will fit regardless of model? I am looking at some fenders right now and want to be sure they'll fit before I buy.

I would prefer cutting another fender other than the stock one. Want to keep the stock one...stock.
