About the only way I could see a mod like this on a sportster not looking out of place would be if you could find some rocker boxes that resemble those of an ironhead. That would give a newer sportster more of an "Old School" look that seems to be popular these days.

I saw a sportster on eBay with knucklehead covers. To me it looked horrible
