Sorry to jinx you.

I had it today as well.

Morning ride - no noise. Temp was in the high 70's low 80's.
Afternoon ride - NOISE. Temp was in the low 100's.
Evening ride - no noise. Temp was in the low to mid 90's.

I thought of that. I opened my tank and found no vacuum. I thought maybe it was low on fuel, but it is not that. I have half a tank. Its definitely not a mechanical sound though. I think it is generated by some time of air or fluid movement. The sound is there when at idle and does not increase in pitch, but does get louder when actually moving. The faster the higher the pitch. That's why I am thinking air movement.

Talking

It may be a vortex created by excessive throttle twisting.

this is an interesting idea! where did you get this idea from. this morning after sitting all night i had no noise.
but would this vortex continue thru out the day? because yesterday, i took a quick run to the walmart and noticed the noise. then back to work. hours later when i went to go home, it started again.
then this morning.... no noise...... so confuso

Mine thankfully hasn't been doing it lately.

I've been running ethanol-free fuel is about the only variable that has changed. I doubt that has anything to do with it.

A heat dependant vortex.... Sounds like an X-file. Damn those gremlins! What will they think of next? Only solution to that is call in a witch doctor. Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang Bang

Hmph.
It is related to gases in the fuel tank. Extreme heat like we have here in hotter than hell Miami causes the gas to evaporate and build up pressure in the tank. It happens every now and then (usually when low on gas).
I would take a look at the pump and hoses if it's happening constantly though.

When my bike is low on fuel and I hit the starter I get a high pitched whine as well. Goes away once the bike starts.
