Default 06 XL1200L front forks

Anyone know how stiff the front forks are on a 06 XL1200 low?I am able to almost bottom them out just by standing on the foot pegs and bouncing the front uo and down.I know they don't have much travel but this seems a little to soft.I don't remember if it was like that when I bought new in July, and also seem to bottom them out alot when riding over RR trax or some sewer covers.
Thanks Joe

Mine is the same way and it has been that way from the start. As some folks have suggested, I'm going to try heavier fork oil at some point.

I'm pretty sure that's how it came. My wife's is similar. I wouldn't say it bottoms alot but it does dive on heavy braking. But then again, so does my custom. Only difference is my custom has a hair more travel.

I'm looking into progressive shocks and springs for both bikes to lower things even more and to help stiffen things up a bit.

Mine too, although I don't think it was like this from the beginning. Let me know if you come across something to improve it.

Same here, you have to learn how to avoid it. I usually bottom when I hit a pot hole or speed bump, otherwise I am fine. [8D]Alex

15 wt fork oil, and progressive just came out with a better spring TRAK-TEK is a good source, chris is very helpful, thats a cheap improvement ,our sportys have a cheap outdated damper rod fork, there are options depending on $$$$ you can install complete fork tubes from the XL1200S 2000-3 they have a cartridge like sport bikes, direct fit , brakes work they are a little longer 31.5 in from top of tube to axle centerline , available from dealers
