New 48 RSD Cafe Racer??
 

I'm back now after a 1-year hiatus and just bought my 4th Harley. I had to start again from scratch as a new member here again. Has anyone turned their 48 into a cafe style racer? Any pics? I'm trying to decide which direction to go. Any help is much appreciated.

hardly, i have the same motorcycle minus all the crap...i mean accessories hes added to it. That motorcyle is one set of tassles away from a carnival ride. And wildthang just cause im not some geriatric with more money than style does not mean that im a "little boy". Im sorry this board and the internet has given you some false pretense your bike is cool, but in reality it is some hobbled together abomination that looks like you picked up a parts catalog and ordered anything that was black and would fit your bike. i have a feeling you dont ride anyhow, which is probably for the best so somebody doesn't tear up while laughing at that waste of parts you call a bike and run you over.

I actually like his bike. I've always subscribed to the 'less is more' philosophy, but I think he made a goal and went about achieving it very well. I think that is admirable. Much more admirable that some 'Internet badass' that hides behind his keyboard throwing proverbial snowballs at other people's property.

Meh more of an opinion than a bash. I hate those 7" headlights as well. Just personal preference.

Those crime scene choppers Rapides lights are the tits just way too pricy for my taste.

An opinion is "I hate those 7" headlights as well" a bash is "a 7" headlight is going to be giant and look like ass."

man now you are just splitting hairs, okay so i will admit i can be a bit harsh but oh well, i never knew harley guys had so many feelings. To anybody who has taken offense to anything I have said i will give a blanket "im sorry". I will point out that most of the threads those quotes come from there are other people saying similiar things. My "statements" are assumed to be understood to be my personal opinion, which I thought the point of forums was for feedback and opinion sharing. I can tone it down, but the ribbing i give out here is the same i share amongst my friends and comes naturally. I still stand behind my statements but i will admit they could have been worded "nicer", though i still get a good chuckle from gremlin bells and goblin tassles. I guess in the end we still all ride harleys and thats what is really important:icon_woot:

p.s. All rude comments aside I still wouldnt call wildthangs bike a cafe, though he has alot of "cafe" accessories, a cafe tradionally sits higher and has a narrow 18"-21" front wheel for handling.

Just because it's not your style does not mean its not a cool bike. You don't think it's a cool bike I think it's wicked fing cool. It's all personal opinion and I think most would agree that if all your going to do is bash on someone and start fights then we all would rather not hear your opinion. It's pretty sad when a 22 year old kid has to give you a lesson in not being a douchebag. Learn to respect your fellow man. Oh and the run you over comment, was that really necessary?

i dunno , probably goes from cafe to cafe with no problem . probably does 'the ton' as well . might even get there before some other bikes . tht makes it a cafe racer doesn't it ?

of course it's not completely the traditional cafe racer style , but it's obviously influenced by it . very nice looking bike

I have the plan completely in place for my 48's transformation.


However, I don't expect to be posting up pictures of the progress anytime soon as I will need to do the front end, chain drive, wheels/tires, and brakes all at the same time (holy f'n $). I'm still saving up for the exhaust, software, rearsets, and suspension package. :icon_sad:


Eventually though, I will have more of a "vintage racer look, modern tech performance" bike than anything. A Manx featherbed would be pretty sweet too, but that's another $2500 I would have to save up.
