hey guys,
Im new to posting on this site, but I thought this would be the perfect time. So a friend of mine is giving me his old 2003 100th year ed. gas tank. I have a 2005 XL sportster and I know that the mounts are different for the 03 and 05 sportsters. Is there any way, or any kit, that I can use to mount this tank onto the body of my 2005 sporty? I really like the look of this 03 tank and would really like to make it fit if at all possible. Thanks for your help.

If you want it to sit in a stock location around the backbone you'll have to retunnel the 03 tank. In 04 thay started using significantly larger backbones.

 

I know someone that would want that tank if it doesn't work out for you. Thats if it's the silver one.
