RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
some times we let our eyes get bigger than our needs . I got by for a long time on bikes alot smaller than an 883 . I could probably of got by with an 883, but the 1200 roadster caught my eye and nothing else would do , the stealer made me a killer offer on a super glide but it just didnt tweak my nugs like the roadster and that is the bottom line . if your bike fits your needs and you are happy then life is good . enjoy your sporty , ride safe and ride often.

RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
All about being happy and just enjoying what you've got. If your scoot puts a smile on your face and pushes you down the road just fine then so be it.

RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
ORIGINAL: Thumper26 There's no need to justify owning and liking an 883 over a 1200, or any other bike. Heck, the 883 is more bike than most people will ever need. In motorcycles, size does NOT matter. What matters is that the owner and bike are one while on the road. Enjoy your bike, after all, that is why you bought one, right? |
RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
,,well i made choose,,because of $price$for one..
i bought a one owner 1200cc for the price of a 883cc but i like them both,,but im still not budging,i like the 1200cc over the 883cc,,but thats for me and not another, ride safe,,and ride happy,,:D |
RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
I have no problem with the 883 itself other than it's existence....What is the point of the bike? Why not just make them all 1200's and be done with it? They are the same bike. 883 pistons and valve ares no cheaper than 1200 ones. The MoCo should just make a basic no frills 1200 for the same price as the base 883. The only reason they build the 883 is to make money off people who trade up or upgrade to a 1200 kit, IMO.
BTW, I feel the same way about the Twin Cams....All 88's should have been 95's and all 96's should be 103's. There is no reason they couldn't have been. They could have put EPA compliant big bore kits in them all and made money on the side selling performance heads and cams for them. |
RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
Any bike is better than walkin. Any Harley is better than any ricer. The sound alone from the 883 is music to our ears. Get dressed and RIDE!!!

RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
If a 1200 cost the same as an 883, you might pick the 883 if you value a smoother ride. Every bike has unique advantages and disadvantages. If a RK cost the same as a Sporty, you might pick the Sporty if you want to ride the most beautiful bike made. Not just because I think so, but because art experts universally pick the Sporty as the "perfect" bike aesthetically.

RE: Re-thinking things about sporties
ORIGINAL: xxxflhrci But why would you not want a 1200 if it were the same price as an 883? My point is that they cost the same money to build, why not just make them all 1200's? Cheaper Insurance Burns Regular Gas 87 Octane vs. 91 for 1200 Better Gas Mileage all these as a General Rule apply, :D |
