Re-thinking things about sporties
 

Well, I have to admit, after speaking to several people about my sporty, and after reading lots and lots of posts here, I have re-thought my position on my 883C.

I used to think that I should have purchased the 1200. It is a nice bike...but no nicer than my 883C. It is more powerful and quicker, but since I am officially an old man, I don't need to go faster. I ride it around town here in the Phoenix area and sometimes on the highway. My 883C will pull my fat butt up to 80 or 85mph with no problem.

So, the bottom line is...since I don't go fast, and since it is a nice reliable bike, I guess I am better off to not have purchased the 1200 for the additional money.

Someday I will have a bigger bike than this one, but in the meantime, I will enjoy my little 883. It is an awsome bike for someone like me.

No offense intended toward those 1200 owners. I just realized that I don't really need the 1200

The 883's solid. Can't loose with an 883 (except a race :D). J/K the 883's plenty fast for most people's riding style.

I agree. I wanted Scootergrrlto get a 1200, but after piloting the 883 around town, I have decided it is plenty fast for what I need and more than enough for her....

Just a FYI. I would love to have a 1200 or better. I rode with several Night Trains, and some 1500's last night. I kept right up with them with no problem. I'm a happy camper at this point.

I either push a 883 hard or ride a 1200 slow. How does it sound? [sm=smarty.gif]

There's no need to justify owning and liking an 883 over a 1200, or any other bike. Heck, the 883 is more bike than most people will ever need. In motorcycles, size does NOT matter. What matters is that the owner and bike are one while on the road. Enjoy your bike, after all, that is why you bought one, right?

Just think back 40-50 years. If you had a 650 you had a big bike. Ain't nothing small about an 883 !

Exactly! My 883 has more than enough power for me,it's a cruiser!
