paint belt guard or leave black
Going to take my oil tank and battery cover to get painted and pinstriped to match paint on bike. I planned on doing belt guard as well. Had a shop tell me to think about the guard as being black keeps in less noticeable. I thought about his suggestion and am now torn between doing it or not. All will get painted pewter with burgundy stripes to match lines on bike. No fancy design as I want to keep it basic to the original paint. Any suggestions or pics anyone has done this.

I am just picturing the guard so close to oil tank cover looking dull if not painted but see keeping it black as well. Literally torn.I am going to stop by paint shop Monday after work and go over details. The painter has done some killer airbrush stuff and trust he will do good work.

Removing the belt guard permanently is not an option as I ride 2 up with wife at times and love to give my kids little rides around town.

I think the sidecovers painted that beautiful gray will look good. I think you should try the belt guard painted first, then you can always just eliminate it. I think it would look old school.
I definitely would not go with chrome.
I'm glad my bike is all Vivid Black, don't have these decisions to make. Unfortunately, with chain drive, it's too messy to eliminate the guard.
