Default heel rests on a Sportster

Hi all!

I'm new to the site, and I'd love to get some advice. Has anyone put heel rests on their Sporty? I talked to a parts guy at the dealership (not the service guys, although I think I probably should have), and after taking the part and holding it and the footpegs up to a Sportster, hebelieves that it should work. The part is labelled "Footpeg Heel Rest, Forward Control" #50227-01 and says it's for 1993-2002 FXDWG, 89-Later FX Softail.

Any thoughts/advice before I open up these packages? Thanks so much!

Sorry I thought it was going to be like a yes or no question... lol

I don't know the answer to your question... but I bought a set of Kuryakin (sp?) sturrips for mine and they make a big difference as far as foot/leg comfort...

I got tired of trying to keep my feet on the front pegs or sliding onto the exhaust, so I bought these off eBay for $39 just to see if stirrups would work. They do in fact work great and they're still on there.

jp cycles has lots of stirrups. Maybe a second option if you are unsure.

They look great, price is right too. Do you have a eBay link?

Search for item 170087966560 . There's a ton of pegs in the "pedal & pegs" listings. You see these listed quite often by various vendors, usually at the $39 price.

I bought them thinking they'd be el cheapo quality and I could use these as throw-aways just to see if I'd be happy with stirrups. Quality turned out to be very good, so now I'm getting a matching set (without stirrups) for the passenger.

PS: Not sure I bought from the vendor which has that particular listing. It goes without saying, always check seller's track record and in particular what they charge for shipping "and handling" anytime you buy on eBay.

Thanks for the quick reply, how's the rest position with your forward control? Any problem going back and forth from shift/brake to rest? I am just curious.

Nope, absolutely none.

I guess I should have added: The heel rest is adjustable (they even included the allen wrench), so you can set the height/angle to what best suits you.

I live 20 minutes from J&P here in Iowa and the Kuryakin were cheaper off Ebay, they are very nice.
