What did you do to Your Sportster Today?
Got the 66 tooth rear pulley installed to compliment the 31 tooth front pulley on my '16 Forty Eight. Stock are 68 and 29 respectively. Makes quite the change in RPM's at all speeds. I found 2nd and 3rd gears to be more "useful" as well.
Also installed the DK Custom 1" Stealth Handlebar Riser Extensions.
The combination of the two likely yielded less "buzz" and, as a result, less numbness in my throttle hand.

Just so I do not pull my hair out trying to figure the math, what did this do to the final drive ratio? Lower or taller?
I am beginning to believe HD did not add a 6th gear to the sportster, because it would hurt big twin sales. The rubber mount sporty, in 6th gear at 70 mph, would would be very comfortable, and the engine would live longer as well. Would have made a nice lightweight (sort of) touring bike. Was one of the big reasons I went to an Ultra. If it had 6 speeds, I could have upgraded the suspension, and had a great long range bike.
Anyway, back to your mod.......

With the setup I have in 5th gear I can run at 55mph so a 6th gear ought to work at 70 to knock off 3 to 400rpm.
Talking of setup...
During one of my checks I found the SE air cleaner wet with oil probably from the breathers even though the setup has pipes that direct the flow directly into the throttle body. I didn't know what to do so while I thought about it I put the bike back to stock as I also found the sound reduction kit had come loose in one muffler and the threaded rod was damaged.
I got the sound reduction kit sorted out. I made an external breather setup after finding out the SE air cleaner can be cleaned so with that done I installed the stage 1 setup the other day. I have the Khrome Werks 3" hp-plus tapered slip-on mufflers that look like the HD stock ones.
It makes a good difference with low rpm running and gives me a little better economy.

The Butt Dyno says "It's still plenty."
There is a perceptible difference as you might expect with the RPM drop thru the entire power band, which was the goal. I'll be 70 here in a few months and my hot rod days are well off in the rear view mirror. This change is the perfect brew for my riding style.

u mean taking off in 1st ? No problems for me.i posted 3 short videos last year in the sticky section.granted i still had the 883 primary gearing and i wasnt getting on it.that was a 500 rpm drop with the 32/66 belt pulleys only.i only dropped 200 more rpms since then for a 700 rpm drop.key is figuring out which gear at what rpm u ride at.if i tried,i bet i could still pull the front wheel off the ground in 1st...and the main reason i changed to the 1200 gearing was because the high gearing on the belt side wasnt bringing my head and oil temp down...
after i made adjustments after wknds post where fuel enrichment on the pv wasnt going to kick in until 10000rpms,it did make the heads run a little cooler but i also needed higher gearing for the interstate.it was get run over or run off and leave them on a 85-90 cruise while keeping head and oil temps down.my task is completed.i was prepared to put the 31 tooth back on if the gearing was too high but it wasnt.85 mph will show a little over 3500 rpms in 5th.
perfect.right in the power band.....2nd at 30..3rd at 40....4th at 52-80,,,i cruise at 66- 70 mph in 4th and consider 5th a od gear.on the interstate i ride at 80-88.and yes, even with driving stick on this bike,i am still a aggressive rider.it has really honed my skills to the likes i have never had.
