Replaced the timing cover with a piece from LC Fabrications, repainted with PJ1 Fast Black Satin Black engine paint, put a new gasket in place and reinstalled. Kinda dig the two tone grey to black case. Waiting on a new derby cover to come in the mail this week so I'll do that side next weekend. Also, sanded primed and repainted the side covers for the oil tank and replaced the trim piece around the dipstick. For future reference that trim piece is plastic not metal so be prepared to spend $20 for a replacement if you aren't careful removing it.

to be honest. Those "issues" are probably just the nature of the beast. compression is the same, the heat is there still as well. Probably tore it down again for nothing.... still no idea what i'm doing.
