Thanks for the input. I have used Mothers, and yes it does work but its a lot of work on some things - my wheels included. I will try the simi chrome as well as maybe some 00 steel wool on some spots (i happen to have some). SOunds like there isn't any substitution for elbow grease.
Any recommendations on the best stuff to use to clean and shine up the aluminum wheels? The spokes are painted black and clean up well but around the rim is unpainted. The oxidation and discoloration is hard to polish out - at least with what I've tried.
Are we talking cast aluminum wheels or wheels built with hubs, rims and individual spokes? If you are referring to rims and spokes aren't HD rims made from steel?
When washing the bike I use a small mother’s power ball on my drill to clean the spokes, then I’ll hit them with some wad polish. I like to use never dull but any wad polish will probably do. My bike is my only transportation so wiping them after every ride isn’t really feasible, so sometimes they get bad. Whenever I let them get bad, I use a dremel with polish wheel, I use to go the steel wool 00 route, but it can leave scratches if you aren’t careful enough.

Any aluminum specific polish and cleaner in a lot of elbow grease seriously they all work pretty darn good but it takes a lot of work to make it work right.
