Always have been interested.....

in the dark side. I'm now to the point in ownership that I am looking for a more dependable tire and one that lasts longer than a standard mt. I typically put on 14-16,000 miles a year on my bike. Seems like I am replacing the rear tire a lot. The front, not so much. I have a lot to learn about this dark side. Been looking at going to a wider rear motorcycle tire, 180 mm or 200 mm, on my 2007 road king police bike. So the work is coming up and I would rather do this once. Thanks for any and all input that you have.

On to reading this forum.

Choices are very few for our 07... I tried fitting the Vredestein taxi tire with no avail...good luck.

Ordered a 2009-13 rear swing arm this morning. Time to see what the difference is and what it'll take to get it to fit.

I have a shift shaft seal that has started to leak and needs to be replaced. There will be a lot of checking and pic taking when the seal gets replaced. I should be able to use a long straight edge to tell me what I can get away with.

Now I need to find an 09 or new fender to check as well.

I am curious of this as well...I just spent a bunch on my suspension and a 2 in 1 exhaust so I am tapped out for a while... Now we're looking at a beater for my wife... Found a 03 Silverado classic in very good condition for $1000.00

Already did the suspension, bought some 444's on ebay. 09 swing arm and axle is here, haven't had time to measure it, been insulating and dry walling the garage prepping it for heat. 18 degrees here this morning. The new rim came in yesterday from MSI. Nice rim and hub in 16" diameter x 5.5" wide.
Still looking for a rear 09 or newer fender.

Going to have the GF turn me a couple of aluminum pucks to replace the wheel bearings for the trial fitting.

Garage should be fully insulated and heated by Saturday. Then on to the fun stuff.

I just finished insulating my garage doors on the attached garage no I need to do the shop... All my walls are insulated and doing my doors this weekend, need to rent the blower to do the attic... Still undecided on HVAC, thinking of a 18000 btu Mini split.

I am sure you know it is all a compromise.
You cant have a sticky tire and a long lasting tire.
Pick one.
Next
There is always the "DarkSide" and they have some pretty good arguments for it.

Why can't I have a long lasting sticky tire? I know, I know...I'll have to find a middle of the road to be happy with. Either way, I hope it'll last long that what I've had on there so far.

The dark side is always a possibility. Seems they're getting 3 to 4 times the mileage out of a rear tire.

Yup , a lot of the GW people run them.

If you make the right tire choice for you riding style it pays off...Several of my riding friends really like it.
