Maggie Valley....Deals Gap....Georgia?
I have to take a few days off of work before June.
I have never been out of Florida on a motorcycle, so I was thinking about taking a 3 or 4 day ride.
Anyone up for road trip in late April or sometime in May?
Not trying to break the bank - just get out and ride while eating and sleeping on the cheap!
Lets ride!

If you are going to Deal's Gap, I would certainly shoot for 4 days or more.
Personally, I would stay in Franklin NC if I had a short trip. %0 miles south of MV.
It is a full day to Franklin, all interstate/major highway and a full day back.
From Franklin to the Gap is ~50 of wonderful mountain roads on SR28. (IMHO the ride TO the Gap on 28 is better than the Gap itself). Make sure you hit the Cherohala (sp) Skyway. Fantastic ride.
The next day you can head East on 64 and catch all the waterfalls and over to Pisgah, up to the BRP and catch 20 miles or so of that on the loop back to Franklin.
MV is a great base, but if you are limited on time, I would consider shaving a couple of hours of travel off the trip.

While I am getting courage to ask Barbara if I can go, I thought I would mention the
town of Helen Ga for a jump-off point. It is a neat little town, lots of good riding in either direction you go. It is two hours ride, north to the dragon. I rode there last October, ahead of the rest of the Crew...because like some, I had to plan my days off before everyone else decided when they wanted to go....I ended up going alone. BUT....it was Octoberfest....and you are never alone in Helen during that time! I will watch the post also. Maggie Valley is still a little ride from the Dragon. All rides are good mind you, but Helen is a good spot to squat.
