Default New stock parts off purchased upgraded bike

I’ve purchased 2 new bikes from my dealer that were already upgraded with exhaust, grips, etc. adding extra to the purchase price. Do all dealers just disregard the stock parts that they took off? My first bike, I was so excited to get, I didn’t really think about until I got home, then I figured the free labor for the installation it was pretty much a wash. On the 2nd purchase I asked about it immediately, and they said if we still have the parts, I could have them, of course I get a text the next day saying that they don’t have them. Is this just an extra revenue stream for them? I mean, we bought the whole bike, then paid extra for the parts they put on, aren’t we entitled to the parts we bought?

That BS. Should go to the owner of the bike. Or give you a cash amount for the difference...

Doesn’t seem right to me either. Wonder how many are affected by this “marketing ploy”.

My local does this.

1. Gives them back to the owner if he/she wants them. If they don't then #2.
2. Has a list of people who are looking for certain parts and offers to sell the parts to them. If nobody then #3.
3. Puts them on display out on a "Reduced Price" table. Then #4
4. Keeps them laying around until somebody says, "I'm looking for a used______" and sells it to them. If not then maybe #5
5 They probably sell them as a lot to a swap vendor or sends an employee to the Swap Meet to dump them.

This should be standard practice. You should give this dealer a shout out. I visit your area at least twice a year, I’ll bring him some business next time I visit.

It seems to me that this is "common practice" at "stealerships". I don't think it's right, but it happens.

I took MY stock seat off my FLSB immediately, I can flip that no problem. I "let" them keep the stock muffler. Really just forgot it, was a warm winter day, wanted to ride and hear the new slip on Street Cannon. Might have fit it in the larger pannier.

How do you guys get this in your profile? I never noticed it before. Is there a setting somewhere?
