Al, CDOT has experimented with the beet juice solution, but I don't know that they use it much. Since we are one of the largest beet producers in the country, I don't know why they wouldn't.
The solution that has been used for the last decade or so is a Magnesium Chloride that can be very hard on vehicle finishes although the state denies this. Along with a 95% sand/salt mix.
