Finally figured out "The Wave"
So after 40+ years of riding and the many changes I have seen in the demographics of America, I have figured out the protocol for the wave.
I NO longer wave to ANYONE on 2 wheels whatever they are riding unless I personally know you.
With this decision and the very threatening newly changed laws in my state RE: CELL PHONES I now only wave to one type of driver, my new wave comes to these drivers in my state whether I am in a cage, on a bike or the passenger in someones' vehicle.
If you are in Ct. and I see you on your phone I will wave, but my new wave is not about two fingers down, or a raise of the fingers off the wheel. No, nope, not at all...I now wave at these drivers with just ONE Finger. No prejudice and IDGAF.

Forgive my stupidity and while I understand that you want to only wave at friends but the new law thing is throwing me.

I'm with him on the waving to other riders, though. It got old really fast and unless I know you, I'm not waving back. If someone gets butt-hurt about it, that's THEIR issue, not mine.

Sorry 12 hours on a "hot train" all night slows my brain.
I added the cell phone thing next to my statement about the new laws, and highlighted the part about seeing you on your phone.
In ct, a non handsfree device has been illegal for awhile. The new laws include a charge for distracted driving, that gets reported to insurance and some HEFTY new fines.
If you are stopped at a red light and an officer sees you texting this is an offence under the new law. They are ticketing like crazy, but everywhere you go idiots are on their phone or looking down at a green light.
The law is written that if you are driving erratically because you are shoving a Big-Mac down your throat this is also distracted driving.
FIVE times in the last two weeks I have almost been taken off the bike by an idiot performing one of these acts..so if I pass you now I flip you off. or blow the horn while going by you because you are driving 40MPH on the interstate.

Thanks Mike! See...that's why I asked to forgive my stupidity!
I'll still wave, whether I get it back or not. It doesn't hurt anything if I do it and if they don't, oh well. And not the "one finger salute/wave" either.

Regarding any use of telephones while driving or riding, I agree with the national compaign slogan.
It Can Wait.
Regarding the title of this thread...you seriously misled me into clicking into your topic, expecting a Revelation, an Epiphany and an Ah-Ha moment! Instead, I find (disappointingly) just another divergence into parts unknown and uncharted.
Ya let me down, Son!
