Daughter's (Audrey) first or second grade teacher told me she could tell which kids had puters at home the first day of class. Said they paid more attention, were quicker at everything, made the other kids look mentally slow. When I found out even kindergarten had an Apple puter in the classroom, and starting in first grade had computer classes (special puter room with a bunch of puters; each classroom just had one), I thought I'd better get one so I'd be able to keep up with her and mebbe even help if needed. But when I researched it a bit, realized the future was PC, not Mac (Macs are still kinda specialized, business world is predominately Windows - not saying this 'cause I'm a Windoze fan, I'm not) and got a 286; that was in '89. Almost nothing for kids in Mac software, lots on the DOS shelves.

First time Audrey got scolded in school over puters was at a parent show & tell of the school puters (kindergarten); Audrey was showing me how to change colors on a video display on a Mac, and a teach got all upset 'cause she didn't know what my daughter was doing. 4th or 5th grade, got notified Audrey was scolded for hacking into the school's server - turned out the puter class was too big and she didn't get a puter station to do her assignment, so when the teach left the room for something, she used the school server. Got caught... Asked her how she got by the password, said she just did what I taught her. Proud of that girl.

Nephew had attention and hyper-activity problems as a kid, Ritalin kid. Loved video games, when online games started, lived on them when mommy allowed; suited her, didn't want to be bothered with him, and daddy was often elsewhere - didn't have much choice about that when the army sent him to places where things went boom. Didn't have much hope for the kid, but when he got a driver's license, fell in love with cars (building a 200mph sporty car now, from sandblasted body up) and guess what? Lotsa jobs for puter savy folks in the auto business. He's never had a problem getting a good job. Even built custom puters for a while. I can barely understand what he's talking about sometimes. Kinda like wimen...

Argh, phone still won't send pictures, don't know what's wrong. Just get error messages. Tried with gf's phone, same thing, mebbe Sprint has a problem. Won't direct upload to puter, either. So ya don't get to see the 1200 worrying a herd of black angus. Wus supposed to have intermittent showers yesterday (it did), but I took a chance and putted around for about an hour. Fortunately, I put the rain liner in my mesh jacket, and the boots can be polished again. Don't plan on sellin the 1200 anyway. Out in the boonies sumwhere, saw a buncha black angus cows enjoying some brief sunlight next to the road. Stopped beside em and took some pictures. Wus funny, those cows dint make a sound, dint move, just looked like black statues all staring at me while I wus there.

ol flew the coop....went to the church, for a retreat.....dunno from what?!....but I told her have fun, I'll swing by 'round 4, then it's off to the golden corral for a buffet.
