My little hometown has been overrun by bikers!!!
I grew up in and spent nearly 30 years in a little "village" in northeastern Ohio called Clinton. A very quiet, blue-collar bedroom community to Akron and Canton. This past weekend wasn't so quiet!!!
My town has a very long and rich history of servicemen and women in the armed forces, including my grandfather who was a Marine during WWII, my step-father who served in the Army in Nam, and my brother-in-law who served in the Marines and was in OIF. Anyway, every Memorial Day is a huge doing, with folks coming to my little town from many miles to see a huge parade and service at the town cemetary. Now we have something else to be proud of, as they have built a gigantic Veterans Memorial Park.
My mother, who still lives there, called me Sunday, as nearly 10,000 motorcycles, including the PGR and Rolling Thunder came roaring into town. She called me three times and kept putting the phone out so I could hear all the bikes. Wish I could have been there, but I was working a trade show in Indianapolis.
I have attached some links to articles, and also a link to the photos she took and uploaded to WebShots (including the brick we purchased for my grandfather Richard Esler).
Thanks to all who attended, to all who contributed, and to all who served!!!
