Thoughts on V&H FuelPAk FP3 for 2015 Ultra Limited
#3
Money well spent. You can in fact dyno with the FP3 although not many tuners are using it for that yet. You get a very good "dyno tune" by using the auto tune feature. That being said, a dyno tune is only as good as the tech doing the dyno tune and V&H has bigger pockets to go after in the case of an engine failure caused by a bad tune. Therefore, you can be assured that their maps and auto tunes are slightly conservative so as not to cause damage that an unqualified dyno tune tech can certainly cause. My bike runs much better, cooler and very much more responsive than before the FP3. Also, if you change or add anything after you've had your bike dyno tuned, the tune you paid for is history whereas with a flash tuner such as the FP3, you can modify the tune after your new mods are installed. If you plan on doing internal mods like cams, pistons and heads, a PV2 might be a better choice but for stage 1 stuff, I really don't think the FP3 can be beat.
