Default '01 Ultra in pristine condition - low low miles

What is '01 Ultra worth in pristine condition with low low miles (like 900)?

Is low mileage something to worry about - dry rot? rusty cylinders? anything else?

I'm looking to buy, not sell.

Did they have a good explanation for the low milage (not: Oh, I just put the factory speedo back on)?

How much, $11 ~ 12k?

Might wanna check KBB for book price.

I'll f/u on that... good point.

I have a 01 Heritage STC (bought new)and it only has 2800... and I thought that was low (400 per yr or so). I just never made time to ride it.

Was '01 a "good" year for the Ultra?

I was looking at bike trader today on line and you are lucky to see an Ultra with 50K miles on it below $13000 all the way back to the 1st year of the twin cam. And RK Harley I resent that statement about 99's?[:'(]99's were a great year untill 2000's came out!

I see them priced high all the time, but no bodys buying them, track that trader for a few months and you will only see the good deals not relisted every week. I would worry about the low miles if this guy did not buy new and cant give a credible answer. vehix.com will tell you if its ever been repaired by a insurance claim, the owners its had and if its been taged each year.

Default About '99...

Sorry, didn't mean to offend any '99 owners, but....wasn't that the first year the "new" engine was put into production?

My Harley Dealer service manager said to stay away from '99's because of the bearing problems... I heard Harley made good and fixed them all regardless of mileage. That's good.

When I got my cop bike from the Colorado State troopers the front cam bearing was toast with 39k miles on the bike. I checked and the back cam bearing was the one that they had the service letter on and had been replaced previously. I put in 203 cams when i had the bearing done and have about 13k miles with no problems.

I have an 01' Ultra and the bike is great. The only real issues were the stator (mine went out last yeat w/ 38k+ miles) and the main fuse (recall). I paid over $16,500 for mine w/ 16k+ miles. That was two years ago, and my engine was fully modified w/ a Power Commander unit. Used prices are coming down some as it appears that the market is somewhat saturated with used bikes. I would say the price is fair but negotiable. Try to bargain, and if it doesn't pan out then keep looking.
