Question Boom Audio 4.3 Media?

I recently got a new Road Glide with the Boom Audio 4.3 radio and I am having some trouble getting it to play music from an external device. The dealer was all set to start ripping it apart and replacing components but I don't think that is necessary.

I could go into detail but if the post gets to long I don't think anybody reads it so what I'm wondering is if the radio needs to be uninterrupted while it downloads all the song information or if it is capable of resuming wherever it left off? I have a lot of music and it appears to be "Reading" but never finishes, if it has to start from the beginning every time I turn off the bike it'll never finish?

Thanks for the help

Knowing device would help but if you are talking USB drive.....I believe it reads it every time it is turned on like you just plugged it in. It doesn't store anything in memory. Does everything play fine?

Sorry I started going into detail but thought I shouldn't throw too much out there all at once, then I forgot to put anything.

Ideally I would like it to work with my iPhone 6s+ (IOS 9.3.2) but I just bought a USB drive to leave plugged in the bike because FM radio is unbearable.

It seems to recognize both devices and I think it just needs longer to finish categorizing everything, but I have no way of knowing how long or if it is actually working? If I just need to wait longer that's fine, as long as I can "pause" the downloaded ad between rides? If it has to start over every time then I'll need to find an alternative?

I did confirm it works with somebody else's iPhone but I don't know the version.

Thanks again

I use a USB drive and it plays pretty much instantly. There is no loading or reading time. Put just a few song on the drive and then try it out.
If your using your phone maybe its not finding your music folder.

I know it will work with a few songs and I could see the music from my phone it just wouldn't play it. My understanding is that is has to create a catalog of all the music before it will play it though?

My question is if I turn the bike off does it have the ability to resume cataloging the music when I turn it back on or does it have to start over every time?

Alternatively there must be a limit to how much it can store, is there any chance I simply ran out of memory? If anybody with an expansive music collection can chime in with their experience that would be great?

Thanks again for everybody's help.

I use a 16GB ipod that's full and it boots up immediately per se! Some weird things have happen here and there. I keep it on shuffle and once in awhile I have to go back in and toggle shuffle. ipod froze up before things of that nature is what I mean by weird. For the most part it works good. IMO

Note this is a 6.5 I am talking about. BUT when I WAS using the 4.3 It work the same way with my same Ipod.

Sounds like 16GB is probably close to the limit then, how many songs do you have?

My ipod works. Then don't work. Then works after a half hour. Then don't work at a ll. Thought it may be a connection issue. I think it's an apple issue. My Samsung phone works every time. I'm going to switch to a thumb drive. Maybe try that.

Does anybody know anything about how these things actually work, or have a source that could clue me in on the witchcraft and sorcery inside?

I'm going to try and call Harley later but don't expect to get anywhere there. I've had my USB drive plugged in for days and it still says reading?

I will assume I must be over the limit but I need to know what the limit is before I can determine what I have to do to get under it?

thanks again
