Problem I haven't seen with rear brake switch.
Riding home last night a car pulled up and said my brake lights were staying on.
My first thought was that the front brake light switch had broken. When troubleshooting it this evening I decided, just for the heck of it, to pull the wires off the rear switch. The brake lights went out. Shorted the wires and got lights. Everything I've read about the rear switch says it fails and gives no brake light. Mine appears to have failed with an internal short, leaving the light constantly on. At least it's an easier, less expensive fix than the front switch... |
I had one do the same thing. Quick fix.

It's a pressure switch. try removing it and cleaning it. When was the last time you flushed the brake fluid?

I've only had it about 17 months. Fronts been done but not the rear. Seems like a good time to do the rear... |

Well, what a pita this is turning into.
Changed out the switch with the Accell one with no real problem. The switch itself is a larger size and needs a3/8" drive 1" socket but I have that so that's OK. Went to flush the old fluid out and that's where the problems started. Long story short, the bleeder was stuck and rounded off. Several different types of wrenches and finally resort to vice grips. Naturally they damage the bleeder to the point it won't seal... So, off to get a new bleeder first thing tomorrow so I can ride until the new stainless steel speed breeders I just ordered get here. |
