Default Garmin 665LM as an XM receiver

I have a Garmin 665LM which I used last riding season. I was satisfied with the GPS portion of this unit. I'm now thinking of using the XM radio portion of the 665. I have the XM antenna so it won't take much effort or money to have it operational. My concern is regarding the quality of sound produced while using the 665 as an XM receiver. Just looking for comments or experiences.

That is how a friend gets his music on his Ultra. I think your listening quality is going to be more through the speakers then the zumo???? My buddy uses a headset so I never hear what he is listening to. I have a zumo 660 so listen to music through my iPod when on the Road Glide. No tunes on other bike and don't miss them when I ride it.

Default Zumo

The Zumo sound quality is as good as any XM receiver.

There is a difference between the sound quality of the XM and a MP3 on a memory card in the Zumo. The MP3 is louder and clearer than the XM.

If you have the antenna, you might as well give it a try. You should get a few months of XM free to decide.

I found the VOLUME of the XM portion of the 665 to be sorely lacking. I think there's other threads here about it and possible fixes, search a bit...

I have the Zumo 665 and use it for MP3 and XM play. The input volume is extremely lacking so I tried a product recommended in the Zumo forum called Sound Shocker. Admittedly I was skeptical, but it works. Solved the disparity in volume at a reasonable cost. Install was easy.

I also have the 665 with xm and tried it. Volume was not good at all. I decided to just buy the xm radio module for my aftermarket stereo and go that way. That worked very well in my last truck and sound was great. I hadn't hear of the above mentioned Sound Shocker so I can't comment on it.
