Default Fly by Wire Throttle Problems.....

This morning I lost my throttle, luckily I was just leaving my driveway.

2013 FLHX. I changed Handle Bars 4yrs ago and all was fine.

Threw Codes P1510 and P2138.... I shut off the bike and let it sit for a minute and it started up and ran ok and check engine light went out.

I have been searching through the forum and there is so much information I am overloaded.

I am going to remove the fairing and check all the connections. I have the electrical service manual, however I don't have the required harness or breakout box to do the diag,

any suggestions, before I pull all the wires out of the handle bars.

Installation Details:
- All wires were covered I heat shrink before pulling
- Green connector was heat shrinked together to make sure it could be separated.
- All wire extension were done outside of the handlebars with the Namz extension kit. (the med it @2" outside the hole)

Check the big connector behind the air cleaner, that connects to the throttle body. You model year is covered, where as mine was not. But, pull it out, and check for damage to the terminals. A light coating of contact lube will make sure you don't have any issues with it.

Oh yeah.,mine went into limp mode when my connectirvwas bad.

But....it does seems suspicious with the work done on the wiring.

I agree with TriGeezer, before you start pulling the bars apart, check that connector.

It's possible that a wire came loose, or the Twist Grip went bad, but go for the easy stuff first.

My .02 says it's a kinked wire around the neck of the bike. I fought this for WAY too long on my '12 Ultra. You may have to peel the casing back on the harness in front of the tank. I bet you will feel some kinked wires. Clip out the bad area, resolder and fixed.

Default Update

i cleared the code, checked the connector

the pins look ok two of them were different color? (Pins 4&5). Put a little di-electric grease I mean a little and reinstalled

interesting if I leave the bike alone the code doesn't come back

if if I rock the bars left and right the check engine like come on. ????

i guess I am taking the fairing off?

Default Pictures of TBW connector

Could this be my problem?
A few of the wires we kinked over
I guess I will need to go to Harley and see if that have the sockets and I can redo the connector.

I can't get it to reproduce the error now?

Are you sure the lights coming on when you rock the bars aren't just the security system? Just thinking you fixed the problem with the pins, but the security lights flashing are making you think you still have a problem?

You will not need to take the fairing off. I fought my code issue for nearly two years! Would only hapen once in a great while. I discovered that it only happened when turning to the RIGHT. Finally it took a **** on my and it gave me the codes every time I rode my bike. Took it to my Harley Dealer. One of the Techs told me where to look for a kinked wire. I peeled the casing back on the wires leading to the Throttle Body. What I found was kinked wires where i would guess the Neck of the bike is. I clipped out the kinked portion. I done this to all those 5 or 6 wires.

Took all of about 30 minutes. I have been code free since doing this.
