Up until now (very long and many years) I would have left a negative comment, like PLEASE DON"T. But then thought, what if the supporting hardware was removed? Not about to do it to my Road King but trying to give OP something to think about. If they go that route I would like to see the outcome.

Unless your willing to also remove every single piece of ugly junk that's on the bike to support those factory bags, AND come up with a smooth side cover... and come up with an exhaust that DOESN'T hang from the bag supports, it's a pointless endeavor in ugliness.
In the end, you'll just have an FXR with a bagger front end. Just sayin'.

Takes 5 minutes to remove your bags.
But there is a lot of ugly behind there b/c it was never meant to be seen.
You'd have to change and upgrade a lot of things including different exhaust to really run it and have it look right.
So that is what you want to see if someone has done? I doubt it's been done.
Why? If you go on the kinda rides that you benefit from a Touring frame then you need bags.
If ya only roll around town you don't need bags or a bagger frame.
Maybe you don't have the right bike for your needs?
