Handle bars shaking
I have a 2013 road glide with 17,000 miles at idle the handlebars and fairing shake violently. Any ideas?

Stopped or going down the road?

At Idle? how bad it the shake. they all shake a little due to rubber mounted engine, but not violently. Id check neck bearings, and then check for a bad or loose motor mount.

I assume that when you say it does that at idle, you also mean the bike is stationary?! A couple of possibilities come to mind, one being a failed rubber engine mount, the other a fractured fairing mount. What's your bike like while moving?

With the bike turned off, do your bars have play in them? Riser bushings could be shot.

at idle, all my roadglides, vibrate like a female toy. You should see the fairing shake with the 120R.
However, if the fairing is not properly mounted on the inside fairing support, it will shake more noticeably. the stock bars should not be moving at idle, however if you have apes, the taller they are the more noticable the shake. my 14"s which are 1.5 factory 47 malos shake a lot more than my Yafee 10s. especially if you have modified the stock engine with cams Suggestions you have received, such as front motor mount and front engine brace are good ones to check. however do not forget, nothing but 6 screws (in plastic) hold the fairing on if it is not properly engaged on the inside fairing mount. The bottom supports are to hold the the inner and outer fairing up, not on. |
Change both engine mounts and no play in the handlebar mount and my bars shake at idle without me on the bike. Maybe just normal.

My 12" MBB's shake a lot at idle, but once I put my hand on the grip it stops.
