Default Why is it so hard?

Why is it so hard to put this inner primary race bearing on the damn mainshaft? I got a tool to press it on and it's still not fully on. My tool feels like it's about to strip and yes I've heated the race bearing in the oven. Any tips or tricks?

Buy the upgrade bearing and be gone with that race.

How close is your oven to where you're working on the bike? You may be losing the heat and expansion you're looking for, it only takes a few seconds before cooling starts to happen. Try this but be gentle, don't heat the race too much.

I actually thought about this... I only have to move it another 1/4 inch. Lol

If you're working on your 08, it wouldn't have done you any good anyway.

Heat the race in an oven and then tap it on with a piece of PVC pipe and a rubber mallet.
Just go slow and observe the proper amount of back spacing.

Try a bottle of CO2 turned upside down to cool the shaft. Then do the tapping thing with the PVC pipe. The shaft should shrink a few thousandths and allow the bearing to move.......
