What's the cricket doing in there?
06 road king police. Big sucker air cleaner, Jones full boar slip ons and a Dobeck EJK. Sounds like a cricket rattle sound. From my riding position it sound right front. And only can be hear when accelerating in the neighborhood of 3000 rpm and I've only consistently heard it while at high speeds. Too much other noise to be able to tell if present at higher speed/rpm and I don't think it happens at lower rpms. Im aware it could be a loose whoknowswhat but I'm wondering if anyone recognizes this and is able to say hey I had that exact thing and it was this to help point me in a direction. Thanks guys |
Try to believe me when I say that sounds like it's coming out of the engine. Sound in the video doesn't have the best acoustics so it litteraly sounds like the phone mount is making that sound.
Rpms increase the chirp is heard. Let off the throttle it immediately goes away. |
Lifter perhaps

Have a look around my website... you might find it very interesting :)

Mine did that and it turned out to be the rear exhaust hangers for the mufflers were NOT holding the mufflers tight. They would vibrate at about 3000 rpm creating that cricket sound. Worth a check. Give your pipes a wiggle at the back and see if they move in the bracket.

Sounds like intake track noise. Have a high flow air cleaner? Try putting the stocker back on.
Something to try anyway. |
Don't have the original anymore :/

The noise is still there. Under load it's a rhythmic tap/tick/knocking sound. Imagine the rockers making contact with the cover every time they lift.
Bikes going into the shop for a stage 2 and 3 upgrade. Hopefully they find the cause or it goes away. Took it to to a different shop and they could hear it even tho it's a new sound that just came around. Guy must be def. told me to just ride it. |
