Default 11 RK Rear Brakes Soft

Hello all. Last weekend found my rears were barely grabbing. Went through it, including servicve manual check for master cylinder function, and found nothing. Fluid a bit low, so topped off and was fine...did about 200 miles.

Same thing this morning (except fluid was fine). Not a drop of fluid anywhere. Have about 5% function. Any gremlins I am possibly missing?

Had dealer pop new pads in a couple thousand ago when they were doing the front under ESP (rotor warp). 23k on bike. Had been perfect, until, now.

Thanks in advance for any ideas. Ride safe!

How long has it been since you last flushed the fluid? Even if you don't have ABS, it should be flushed every couple of years because it will absorb moisture from the air. It's cheap, and could make all the difference. I notice improved braking after I've flushed mine, and if you haven't done it in a while that could be part or all of the problem.

A warped rotor in the rear will cause this problem. I just experienced a similar issue with my bike.

Also any oil, or detailers on the rotor and pads will make seem like there's no stopping power. I'd pull the pads and inspect the rotor. Take a sheet of medium grit sandpaper and lay it flat then scuff the pads slightly to remove anything. Clean the rotor with rubbing alcohol or acetone and then reinstall the pads in the same location you removed them from.

So, turns out was the brake switch which WAS ALREADY RECALLED once before I owned it (according to them). About 20k on the new one. Sad. Stupid design to put it in the hydraulic system. Very fishy, stealer charged only $50. Asked why I had to pay for a previously recalled part and mumbled about policy. Didn't even get the old part back....said it was in my bag and it wasn't. Paid and left, went home and reported to NHTSA. Keep an eye on yours...no warning and lost 90℅ rear function.
