Called them how I have them is right and how their instructions say. That collared sleeve to me tho doesnt have a big enough edge on it to hold the rubber bushing in there. They said I can pull the shocks and lube up the rubber bushing to slid it back in but no washer on the inside is used. They are torqued to spec and red lock tight was used to hold them on. Guess ill just have to ride her.
Take shock off and use a straight edge on the top and bottom eyes. The straight must touch above and below the bolt hole top and bottom. from the pictures I am guessing the bottom needs a 1/4" spacer to make that happen, check both sides. Or ride as is and next year buy a better shock. |
Correct installation
Sorry for hijacking the thread, i had the same confusion before due to lack of reading and watching youtube videos. But i was able to correct my installation and this time i remember to apply blue loctite on the bolts

I know an old thread, but wanted to post a quick comment on the standard verses heavy duty shock. Progressive tells you that if your weight is 250, before you add passenger. load etc, then you should use the heavy duty version.
In my case I weigh about 225 with all my gear on and I tried the heavy duty version and they were too stiff and I couldn't dial down the preload enough. So I returned them and got the standard shocks. They work much better for me, in that I normally ride solo, with minimal load. The times that my wife goes for a ride are few and turning the adjuster up one groove from the solo position works good. I agree not the best shocks in the world, bu they work much better than the stock air shocks that leak. |
