Default Opinions Wanted: Best Upgrades for 2012 Ultra Limited

I bought my Ultra Limited new in 2012 and have about 25K miles on it. Other than basic stage one upgrades and a TW222 cam I haven't invested in any further performance upgrades. I also haven't upgraded any of the suspension. Most of my riding is one up and mostly just pleasure cruising as well as several multi-day long distance touring. That was the main purpose when I bought it and that is still its purpose. I plan to retire soon and also plan to do even more long distance touring when that happens. I also have a small tag along trailer for the longer trips.

So, I'm on the fence about upgrading. I figure I can trade-in and get the latest and greatest M8 and all the new bells and whistles which would probably cost me another $15K (for another Ultra). Or keep what I have (which is just the way I like it now) and maybe invest in upgraded suspension and perhaps a 107 or 110 performance upgrade (OEM, SS or FM).

I'd love to hear from some riders in a similar position who may have already been down this road and have some constructive feedback.

Thanks!

I enjoy my Electra Glide. The best investments I've made have been in an adjustable back rest and a Rekluse clutch. Good luck with your decision.

The best susp upgrade on my 2012 limited was when I installed front monotubes in to stop the nose dive when braking, also installed 944s in rear.

Cool

Best upgrade IMHO is top quality suspension. Not only will you be much more comfortable and be able to stay in the saddle longer, the bike will be much quicker. True!

I suspect that your bike with its engine mods is more powerful than a new one so... install good rear shocks (love my Ohlins 159s) and have a cartridge kit installed in the forks. I have the Harley cartridge kit and it's somewhat better than stock but the Ohlins is supposed to be the best. The stock suspension is terrible; improving it makes a world of difference. Put a good seat w/backrest (check out Lamm custom seats) & highway pegs on her and you'll be better off with less $$$ spent than buying a new one. ...just my .02.
