The stock windshield on my 2013 RK Police model is 21 inches tall measured from the headlight. That had me looking thru it not over it me being 6 feet tall. After calling local plastic shops to cut it down none wanted to take liability if it cracked. Type and age of plastic blah, blah, blah. So I purchased a 17" tall model from Memphis shades with a blue lower to match the original shield on the bike. The choice was mostly based on looks, I wanted the blue lower, but after trying the curved upper on an earlier bike I am not convinced of the merit? My .02 YMMV.
Ebay supplied a second set of brackets so I am going to re-assemble the stock shield. It could come in handy in winter when I might want extra coverage.

I recently installed a new Long Ride Shield on my Road King and it was a 10-15 minute job.

Just follow the directions they send with the new shield. Simple as unscrewing the bracket on your old windshield and reassembling on the new. Directions also specify not to use loc-tite or over tighten the screws.

I gotta ask this question: Why do you even need an LRS for a Road King? I can understand it on the Fairing bikes, which tend to have different heights and widths. But The RK windshield is a great one (imho).

the windshield is just for longer trips then it comes off into the hotel, or in the garage if im local etc. For me, the switch to LRS is for buffeting. Harley 18in shield is the right height for me, but even after a helmet replacement and adding cooling wings im getting so much buffetting i cant see at highway speeds. Where the shield will be used. Im not putting fangs on, so lrs is my last attempt.

I went with a Clearview Shield 24" (extra width) last year for EXACTLY the same reason. The stock shield was pretty good up to about 65, after that, it got exponentially worse for every 5mph, to the point that I really wasn't able to read signs at 80. It was the same for all of my helmets until I got the new shield on. It's tough to really understand that difference until you experience it. It makes riding SO much more enjoyable!
